contains 4 Chinese characters and 2 Chinese punctuation marks.

English Letters and Numbers

Chinese writing often contains English words, abbreviations, dates, or numbers. The tool displays English letters and numbers separately so they do not inflate the Chinese character count.

For example:

contains Chinese characters as well as English letters and numbers, and each type is reported separately.

Spaces and Lines

The counter also shows the number of spaces and lines in your text. This can be useful when checking formatting or working with mixed Chinese and English content.

Simplified and Traditional Chinese Character Counting

The counter detects Han characters based on their character encoding rather than relying on spaces between words. This is useful because Chinese writing does not normally separate every word with spaces in the same way as English.

Chinese Character Count vs. Total Character Count

The Chinese character count and total character count are not always the same.

The Chinese character count includes the detected Han characters. The total character count includes all characters in the input, including Chinese characters, punctuation, English letters, numbers, and spaces.

For mixed-language text, this distinction makes it easier to see how much of the text consists specifically of Chinese characters.
