 How to Extract Dates from Text

To extract dates:

1. Paste or type your text into the input box.
2. The tool scans the text for supported date patterns.
3. Review the detected dates in the result area.
4. Copy the results or download them as a .txt file.
5. Clear the input when you’re finished.

Only matching date patterns are returned, while unrelated text is ignored.

 What Date Formats Can the Tool Extract?

The tool can detect common numeric date formats.

 Slash-Separated Dates

Dates such as 09/13/2026, 12/31/2026, and 13/09/2026 can be detected when they appear in text.

 ISO Dates

The tool can also extract ISO-style dates using the YYYY-MM-DD format, such as 2026-09-13.

This makes the tool useful for extracting dates from text containing different common numeric date formats.

 Extract Dates from Mixed Text

Dates do not need to appear by themselves. For example:

Meeting: 09/13/2026
Deadline: 12/31/2026
ISO date: 2026-09-13

The tool can identify the matching dates and return them separately while ignoring surrounding words and unrelated information.

 Written Dates and Unsupported Formats

Not every way of writing a date is currently detected.

For example, written dates such as September 13, 2026 and Sep 13, 2026 may not be extracted. Dot-separated dates such as 13.09.2026 may also not be detected.

For best results, use one of the supported numeric date formats.

 Extract Dates vs. Extract Numbers

Although dates contain numbers, date extraction is different from general number extraction.

The Extract Dates tool recognizes supported date patterns and keeps the matching date together. If you only need individual numeric values from text, use Extract Numbers instead.
